Mission Statement

We nurture children, so they are motivated to reach their full potential in a global society. We recognize that children have rights and the responsibility to become good role models, capable of risk-taking, and able to demonstrate their individuality.

Our school values underpin everything that we do. As a school community we decided that to care, respect, challenge, inspire, achieve and enjoy is what we want for each other as children, staff and parents. We aim to do this through the careful design of our curriculum, a range of extracurricular activities, investment in children and staff, and effective communication with all stakeholders.

At Durga we really CARE, Look after each other and learn to share. RESPECT is important, we are not all the same, Understand different cultures and try not to blame others. Both teachers and children ENJOY Durga School, To treat others kindly is our golden rule. We CHALLENGE ourselves to do our best every day The lessons INSPIRE us, we work hard and play. We believe in ourselves, ACHIEVE, and aim high, ‘Bright Thinkers, Bright Futures’- reach for the sky!

What We Teach

Links between subjects are made to ensure the curriculum is dynamic, creative and relevant while still ensuring children learn key skills. We teach all National Curriculum subjects from the very first year.

Durga School is committed to ensuring that all children reach good standards in English and Mathematics by the age of 11. These subjects are explicitly taught on a daily basis. We monitor the progress of every child closely each term. Where children are not making progress, teachers adapt their teaching, seek advice, inform parents and provide additional support if necessary.

The consistency of teaching is a great strength.

How We Behave

We are proud of our high standards of behavior. Children work and behave in a calm way, which is essential for maximizing their learning and for children to feel happy at school. Our behavior policy is based on mutual respect with an emphasis on praising and valuing good behavior. We have members of staff whose role is to ensure that any behavioral incidents are dealt with quickly and effectively. Children are given time to discuss and resolve any problems that may have arisen.
